Description:
•A
positive lockout system that will prevent a
locomotive battery knife switch from being
engaged while electrical/mechanical repairs
are performed.
•Made of non-conductive material and applied
to the battery knife switch in the opened
position, secured with a built-in lock, thus
preventing the knife switch from being
engaged.
•Employees repairing electrical/mechanical
components can now work with confidence
knowing the battery switch has been locked,
disabling a locomotive's operating system.
•Note: GPS, AWDV, Fuel Monitor, Radio and
Event Recorder all remain electrically
active even with the battery knife switch is
disengaged.
•The
key to the lockout device is placed in a
metal box with a window on the front so that
the key can be seen. The metal box is hung
outside the battery compartment door and
locked with individual personal locks. The
last person working will remove the lockout
device, store the lockout device and key in
the box and return to the lockout station.
