Switch Plate Lube 446C is a unique, sprayable, brushable coating specially designed to lubricate railway switch plates and other railway equipment, and to also protect them from corrosion and wear. It is supplied as a sprayable or brushable liquid that can be applied directly to a relatively clean, dry surface. It is formulated to penetrate rusty and dirty outer layers and to carry its protective ingredients to the solid surface. Upon evaporation of the solvent, it forms a gel-like, semi-solid film that is extremely water resistant and has excellent lubricity. It does not dry and flake off or become undermined like many graphite based materials, but remains a strong semi-solid material capable of protecting the equipment from rust and corrosion under severe outdoor conditions. It does not completely dry up or become brittle even under wet, dusty, dirty, gritty or abrasive conditions. Should removal be desired, a strong solvent combined with brushing or other mechanical action is recommended.
