The Automator consists of a hydraulic actuator that easily connects
to a new switch stand in lieu of the hand lever. The hydraulic actuator rotates 180º to throw the
switch stand. The actuator is powered by a 12-volt battery, DC motor and hydraulic pump
which are all controlled by a programmed PLC. The battery is charged by either a
solar panel unit in remote locations or the Automater can be equipped with a
charger unit that will operate on 110 AC voltage.
When used in conjunction with the
22 stand, the unit can be trailed through and the target will rotate, indicating
the position of the points. If there is an obstruction during a throw, the
points will return to their original position. After the obstruction is cleared,
the points can be thrown.
When used with the 36 stand, the
unit is non-trailable. However, the obstruction feature works the same as with
the 22 model.

DURING THE MOVEMENT MODE, 7500 LBS. OF
FORCE IS DEVELOPED BY THE ACTUATOR. AFTER THE THROW, THE
POINTS ARE HELD FIRMLY TO THE STOCK RAIL WITH 3,000 PSI OF
PRESSURE. THE UNIT CYCLES IN LESS THAN 1.5 SECONDS. THE HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR ALLOWS FOR SOFT
CLOSURE, WITH NO SLAMMING. THE FEATURE REDUCES VIBRATION AND PART
LOOSENING.
THE BASE OF THE
UNIT IS A RIGID WELDMENT TO HOUSE THE MODULAR COMPONENTS. THE
COVER IS LIGHTWEIGHT FIBERGLASS. THE CAN BE EASILY RETROFITTED
TO AN EXISTING STAND LCATION.
IT COMES COMPLETE WITH ALL COMPONENTS
NECESSARY FOR INSTALLATION.
IN THE EVENT OF A POWER LOSS,
EITHER SOLAR OR AC, THE BATTERY IS CAPABLE OF APPROXIMATELY 400 THROWS. IF THE
BATTERY WERE DRAINED COMPLETELY, THE UNIT IS CAPABLE OF BEING OPERATED MANUALLY
WITH AN OVERRIDE VALVE AND HEAVY-DUTY HAND PUMP.
THE AUTOMATOR
WILL PROVIDE MANY YEARS OF TROUBLE-FREE SERVICE UNDER NORMAL
OPERATING CONDITIONS.
