Hinged Model Derails With Handle
|
|
|
Introducing the re-engineered and improved hinged derails, designed to meet a more
demanding railroad environment. The new model 950 and 951 SINGLE-END,
hinged derails are redesigned to meet the railroad industry's changing demands:
Increases in the
tonnage of locomotives and various types of railroad cars
Increases in the
trackage, speed and the number of cars in rail yards.
NEW DESIGN
Decreased deflection angle of the derail
allows a longer "travel run," which increases the derail's functionality at
higher speeds.
LOW PROFILE
At a 2-3/4" height above the top of the
railhead, this derail ensures effective derailments of all types of rail
cars, including mainline locomotives, whose locomotive pilots are cleared by the
derail's low profile height.

The
new derails -- models 950R, 950L,
951R, and 951L -- are now available. They
will replace derails 950 and 951, which are no longer available.
NOTE: The new
hinged derails are now single-end. They do not need to be bought in pairs, but
left- or right-hand throw, as well as rail height, must now
be specified when purchasing. See the tables below.
NOTE: Target stands, derail staff
assemblies and derail flags are sold separately from the derails to provide the
most flexibility in choosing options.
- Model 960/963 Staff Assemblies: Both
derails use optional staff assemblies on which to mount optional flags.
The derail staff assemblies may
be padlocked in either the up or down position. Padlock not
included.
- Model 987 Target Stand: The optional model SS target stand used
with models 950 and the 951 comes with connecting rod, adjustable throw arm,
and signal vane.
- Red and Blue Derail
Flags: Sold Seperately! Derail flags are available to use with the staff assemblies. Go to Flags and Staffs to see more options for
mounted flags.
- RRT-950 MODELS ARE MADE FOR 70-110# RAIL.
- RRT-951 MODELS ARE MADE FOR 112-141# RAIL.

The RRT-990, RRT-980 and RRT-981
derails are now compatible with 141-pound rail!
Our portable derails are
available in both double end (RRT-990 & RRT-986) and single end (models RRT-980 & RRT-981)
designs. Lightweight, tough, easily and quickly installed, they
provide protection for track crews anywhere. All models are cast from a durable
ductile alloy. Wedge-type clamps secure the derail and flag to the rail head.
The 48" (1219mm) high detachable, reflectorized "Derail" blue flag can be
padlocked in position along with the wedge, to comply with Federal Railroad
Administration (FRA) rules. The RRT-980 & RRT-981 are extra heavy duty units,
made to handle steel mill billet or ladle
cars, as well as other exceptionally heavy cars.
NOTE: Target stands, derail
staff assemblies and derail flags are sold separately from the derails to
provide the most flexibility in choosing options.
- Model RRT-962 Staff Assembly: All these
derails use optional staff assembly on which to mount optional flags.

The model RRT-982 sliding derail
has a rugged double end design for permanent installation. Like all of our
derails, the model RRT-982 is cast in a special ductile alloy. It adjusts
automatically to most popular rail heights. An optional model LS heavy duty cast
operating stand (sold separately) with an easy to use throw handle is available.
The handle may be padlocked in either position. (Padlock not included.) The hole
vane in red and the solid vane in white are bolted through the shaft to ensure
alignment.
NOTE: Target stands, derail
staff assemblies and derail flags are sold separately from the derails to
provide the most flexibility in choosing options.
- Model RRT-983 Target Stand: The optional model RRT-983 target stand used with model RRT-982 comes with connecting rod,
adjustable throw arm, and signal vane.
